The rules for using the website and the transfer tool.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to your use of transferfiles.net, including its file transfer tool and its guides (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Questions: contact@transferfiles.net.

1. The Service

TransferFiles.net provides a free, browser-based tool that sends files directly between two devices using WebRTC. We don't host, store or have access to transferred files. The Service also publishes informational guides about transferring files.

2. Who may use it

You must be old enough to agree to these Terms where you live, and at least 13 years old. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you're authorised to accept these Terms for it.

3. Acceptable use

You're solely responsible for the files you send and receive. You must not use the Service to:

  • transfer anything illegal where you or the recipient are located;
  • infringe copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights of anyone else;
  • distribute malware, ransomware, spyware or any harmful code;
  • send child sexual abuse material. We'll report any such use we become aware of to the relevant authorities;
  • harass, threaten, defraud or deceive anyone, including through phishing that imitates file-sharing notices;
  • interfere with or overload the Service, the signaling or relay infrastructure it relies on, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems.

4. Receiving files

Only accept transfers from people you know and trust. We don't scan files for viruses, because we never have access to them. Our guide on receiving files safely explains sensible precautions.

5. Third-party infrastructure

The Service relies on infrastructure run by third parties, including a PeerJS signaling server, public STUN servers and TURN relay servers. It also depends on your browser and your network. Their availability is outside our control.

6. Availability and no warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. These include fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that any transfer will start or complete, how fast it will be, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copy of anything you send. Our guides are for general information and may become out of date as third-party services change.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TransferFiles.net and its operators aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Intellectual property

The website's design, text, graphics and branding belong to TransferFiles.net and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may share links to our pages and quote short excerpts with attribution. The tool uses open-source software, including the PeerJS library (MIT licence), and the open WebRTC standard. Those components remain subject to their own licences.

The Service displays ads served by Google AdSense and links to other websites. We're not responsible for the content, products or practices of advertisers or linked sites.

10. Changes

We may change or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. Updated Terms take effect when posted here with a new date. If you continue to use the Service after an update, you accept the revised Terms.
